AlBayraq Surveillance fixed-wing UAV

AlBayraq UAV is an AI integrated fixed-wing surveillance drone designed to support aerial monitoring in wide and difficult areas where ground surveillance is limited by distance, terrain, blind zones, or delayed response. The main purpose of the project is to develop a locally designed UAV that can provide persistent aerial surveillance, collect useful visual data, and help operators detect and track objects such as people, vehicles, or areas of interest in real time. Our solution is a V-tail fixed-wing UAV with a 3.45-meter wingspan, a maximum takeoff weight of 20 kilograms, and an endurance target of up to 3 hours with a 4-kilogram payload. The fixed-wing configuration was selected because it provides better range, endurance, and flight efficiency compared to multi-rotor drones. The airframe was developed using fiberglass and carbon fiber composite layups through CAD design, CNC mold preparation, fiberglass mold fabrication, curing, and assembly. For intelligence, the UAV uses a stabilized gimbal camera connected to an NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano, where YOLO is used for real time object detection and Deep SORT is used for object tracking. The system also includes a Cube Orange flight controller, Herelink communication, regulated power distribution, and a custom battery switching PCB to support stable power for critical avionics.
